Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
Hard-Fought Battle in Brandon Ford TV Race Challenge Points
Batavia, OH (June 22, 2022) - After 11 Brandon Ford TV Race Challenge events, the points battle is likely to come down to the wire at the season finale with just five points currently separating Brandon Sheppard and Ricky Thornton Jr at the top of the board; both of which have wins in the $100,000-to-win season ending Dirt Track World Championship.
To put the five points in perspective, there are 20 points more awarded for winning the race than for finishing in second: with a five-point difference between the majority of positions throughout the field.
The winner of the Brandon Ford TV Race Challenge points category will receive a $15,000 bonus, while second and third will receive $5,000 and $2,000 respectively at the year-end awards banquet. Drivers must maintain perfect attendance with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to be eligible for these cash awards.
Brandon Ford, World’s Largest Volume Ford Truck Dealer, continues their support of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with the Brandon Ford TV Race Challenge. The mini-series within the 2022 schedule is awarding points to drivers at twenty (20) TV events; eighteen (18) LIVE televised events broadcast on the MAVTV Motorsports Network and the two (2) next day airings.
Brandon Sheppard currently sits atop the Brandon Ford TV Race Challenge points with two wins, five top five’s and seven top ten’s out of the eleven completed races in the mini-series. However, Ricky Thornton Jr trails Sheppard by a mere five points with four top five finishes and only finishing outside the top ten once out of the eleven races.
Tim McCreadie holds down the third spot in Brandon Ford TV Race Challenge points followed by Earl Pearson Jr in fourth and a tie for fifth between Hudson O’Neal and Tyler Erb.
With nine events remaining in the Brandon Ford TV Race Challenge, the next event is this weekend at the 16th Annual Firecracker 100 Presented by Big River Steel during the series’ first visit to Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA. Saturday’s event will be live on MAVTV Plus with a next day airing on MAVTV Motorsports Network.
