Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
Show-Me 100 named RPM's Outstanding Short-Track Annual Event
Wheatland, Missouri (February 17, 2016) - Lucas Oil Speedway received one of short-track racing's most prestigious awards this week for its signature Late Model event.
The 23rd annual Show-Me 100 Presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com was named winner of the Racing Promotion Monthly Award for 2015 Outstanding Annual Short Track Event. Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson accepted the award during ceremonies at the Hilton Daytona Beach in Florida.
"We are very honored to have received the RPM Workshop's Outstanding Annual Event Award," Robinson said. "This event could not have been possible without our amazing staff, drivers, fans and sponsors.
"Thank you also to Don and Billie Gibson for trusting us to carry on the event after 18 incredible years at West Plains Motor Speedway. Finally, we'd like to thank both the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the Lucas Oil MLRA for bringing the world's best drivers and two of the most professional organizations there is to put on this crown jewel event.
Show-Me 100 named RPM's Outstanding Short-Track Annual Event
"Now we can't wait to make the 24th annual Show-Me 100 bigger and better than ever with, for the first time, feature races for the Late Models on all three nights."
This year's Show-Me 100 Presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com is May 26-28. Three-day reserved seats are on sale at the speedway office for $95 by calling (417) 282-5984.
The three-day pass, along with prime seat location, assures the comfort of the stadium-style seat with high backs and arm rests along the front straightaway.
Robinson - also named one of six Racing Promotion Monthly Regional Auto Racing Promoters of the Year - pointed out the Show-Me 100's new format offers a feature each night and an increase of about $60,000 in total purse money.
A feature on the middle night is being added, meaning two $6,000-to-win preliminary events leading into the $30,000-to-win finale on Saturday night.
Some details remain to be finalized, but the first 18 starters in the 100-lap Show-Me 100 will be determined by average finish from the Thursday and Friday features. Previously, those positions were set through time trials and heats on a feature-less Friday.
Robinson said total purse for the weekend, which is co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil MLRA, will grow to about $170,000.
The Thursday race will continue to be named in honor of Allen "Cowboy" Chancellor, former co-owner of the MLRA. The Friday feature will pay tribute to the Gibsons, former owners of West Plains Motor Speedway where the Show-Me 100 originated.
For the fourth straight year, the Midwest Sheet Metal Last-Chance Challenge will precede the Show-Me 100. Sponsored by the Springfield, Missouri-based Midwest Sheet Metal, the non-qualifiers race will pay $2,500 to win or the winner has the option to start at the back of the field for a guaranteed $2,000.
Last year, Chris Simpson the Last-Chance Challenge, opted to start the feature and charged from 31st to 3rd.
The Late Models will be joined by the Pitts Homes USRA Modified division running full programs each of the three nights.
